- 1). Wipe the headlights with the soft cloth, soap and water to remove any dirt. If the problem is related to mud or other dirt and the headlight is not cloudy, a simple clean will restore the appearance of the headlight. If it is cloudy, allow the headlight to dry.
- 2). Apply tape as close to the head light as possible, but avoid covering up the head light. This protects the rest of the car as you clean.
- 3). Dip 400 grit, wet and dry sandpaper into water.
- 4). Sand the head light. Use a back and forth motion and rub the headlight with the sandpaper. Wipe the head light with a cloth to remove grit.
- 5). Dip the 600 grit sandpaper into water. Sand the headlight with 600 grit paper in the same motion as the 400 grit paper. Wipe the head light with a cloth to remove the grit.
- 6). Dip the 1000 grit sandpaper into water. Sand the headlight with 1000 grit paper. Wipe the headlight clean.
- 7). Wash the head light with soap and water. Remove any dust or dirt from sanding the headlight. Allow it to dry and survey the work. Cloudiness should be either gone or minimized. If it is not completely gone, repeat the sanding until the foggy lights are cleaned completely.
- 8). Remove the tape and throw it away.
