- 1). Participate in the rituals of your own religion or culture if you are not Christian. Most correspond somewhat with the spirit of Christmas.
- 2). Take advantage of opportunities to help others during the holidays. Spend Christmas at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter, or visit and cheer people in the hospital.
- 3). Enjoy nature. If you live in a mild climate, go hiking, birding or climbing, or work in your garden.
- 4). Go sledding, skiing, snowboarding or snowmobiling if you live in a cold climate.
- 5). Pamper yourself. Get out a cozy comforter, make yourself a pot of tea and curl up with a good book.
- 6). Go to a sports event. Football games are always happening on Christmas Day, or perhaps you can plan a game of touch football or tennis.
- 7). Invite like-minded friends over to enjoy a meal and good company.
- 8). Go to the movies, or rent a video of a classic movie you love.
- 9). Call someone you haven't talked to in a long time. (Just be sure that person is not celebrating Christmas, or there won't be much time to talk.)

Go to an amusement park. These are sometimes open on holidays, when most people are occupied with family and friends - hence, there are thinner crowds.
