- 1). Remove the six hex screws that hold the aluminum top to the wastegate. Use a 4mm hex key or Allen wrench.
- 2). Remove the factory installed spring from inside the wastegate.
- 3). Consult the wastegate spring chart which was supplied with the kit to determine which spring, or combination of springs, should be used to increase the boost's pounds per square inch (PSI). Insert the springs into the wastegate, on top of the diaphragm. Do not tear or scratch the diaphragm when inserting the springs.
- 4). Replace the aluminum top and secure it to the wastegate with the six hex screws. If the tension of the springs is too much to handle with your bare hands, use a vise to hold the wastegate in place as you secure the aluminum top.
- 5). Connect one end of the boost signal hose to the compressor cover hose barb. Connect the other end of the boost signal hose to the bottom banjo barb on the wastegate. The top banjo barb is left open and used as a vent. Secure the hose connections with zip ties.
- 6). Consult the installation manual to determine the recommended mounting placement for the wastegate. The mounting location depends on the design and configuration of the car's manifold and turbocharger, but it should allow for direct exhaust flow through the engine components and through the wastegate. No matter where the wastegate is mounted, it will always be installed between two sections of the turbine inlet exhaust pipe.
- 7). Remove the bolts that hold the two sections of the pipe together. Use an adjustable wrench and reserve the bolts, washers and nuts.
- 8). Position the wastegate between the two open ends of the turbine inlet exhaust pipe and align the two mounting brackets on the wastegate with the pipes. Insert the pipes into the holes on the mounting brackets and secure the wastegate using the reserved bolts, washers and nuts.
