- 1). Talk to your child about God and question what she knows and believes. Do not wait for church sermons or school to educate your child about faith and God. Be proactive in her religious education. Begin from a young age telling her about God, who He is and what He teaches. Ask your child who and what she believes God to be.
- 2). Read to your child from the Bible and let him relate what he hears to real life. A basis of belief is often proof. For example, read the account of creation in the book of Genesis, then let him view the creations. A close look at flowers, grasses and animals is a reinforcement that what the story says is real.
- 3). Relate the teachings of God to happiness in life. Another reinforcement for the belief in God is the relation between living by the guidelines set forth in religious teachings and contentment or happiness. Relate stories from the Bible, other religious books and examples from real lives. Let your child relay things that hurt her, such as teasing at school, and relate the incidents to how it goes against how the Bible says to treat one another. This tells your child that what God says is true.
- 4). Teach your child to pray. Teaching a child to pray allows him to have a conversation with God. Whether at church or at school, prayer gives the child a sense of contact with God and allows a relationship to develop.
- 5). Show her miracles. Look for modern-day miracles such as medical cases in which a person was cured without explanation. Relate these events with those from the Bible. For a child with waning spirituality, these events may serve as a point of proof.
