Have you ever asked yourself what the best way to get pregnant is? You are definitely not alone, most women who are trying to get pregnant ask themselves the very same question.
It always looks so easy, doesn't it? Everyone around you seems to get pregnant only by looking at a man and still, every single month you do a pregnancy test just to get disappointed again, staring at an empty space where a line should be.
Nobody has told you that it is going to be this hard, have they? Many women think unprotected, regular sex will do the job and that it clearly shouldn't take as long as it does, but unfortunately, getting pregnant is not as easy as it looks like.
Fortunately for us though, there are several things we can do to improve our chances to get pregnant.
Finding out the days when you are most fertile brings you one step closer to your goal.
A woman's fertile window is often only open for 24 to 48 hours during each cycle and missing this important event can mean having to wait yet another month to finally hold that positive pregnancy test in your hands.
Often times, women have been badly mislead by their gynecologists or the media, believing they ovulate, and are therefore most fertile, at around 14 days after their cycle started.
Most of the time, this is completely untrue.
Only very few women have cycles in which they ovulate around day 14 and even then, ovulation can be delayed in any given month, for example due to stress.
So if you ask me what the best way to get pregnant is, I have to say that finding out when you ovulate should definitely be very high on your priority list.
Luckily, our bodies give us lots of hints when it comes to fertility, the most important one being your cervical mucus.
Cervical mucus is the often wet and sticky substance you find in your underwear, and is one of the most important fertility signs your body gives you.
It changes a lot during your cycle and can be either sticky, wet, slippery, creamy, a mixture of all of them, or completely absent.
Usually, right after your period bleeding stops, it becomes dry for about a week before getting sticky, wet, or creamy.
If you try to stretch this mucus it will break apart.
After having this sticky, wet or creamy mucus for a while, you will suddenly notice mucus that looks a lot like egg-white, is clear in color, and can stretch up to a few inches between your fingers.
This egg-white cervical mucus indicates that ovulation is about to happen and this is the best time for some babydancing (sex).
