With the current financial climate as well everyone telling us that we need to reduce our carbon footprint, many of us have opted to try and spend more holiday time in our home countries instead of travelling abroad. Pulling out the maps and looking at areas you've never been to before is a great way to spend some of those long winter nights.
With the current fiscal mood in addition to everybody saying that we need to cut down our carbon footprint, a lot of us have chose to attempt to spend a lot of vacation time in our home countries rather than going overseas. Getting out the maps and considering areas you have never been to before is a dandy way to pass some of those long winter nights.
For a few tho' the thought of holiday camp type establishments can fill us with apprehension and fear, something left over in our childhood memories I guess. The other alternative would be to purchase yourself a caravan and a proper car to tow it and pick out your own vacation destination. As a young man cruising round in my 1st automobile I must admit to having a universal dislike for caravans and caravanners, particularly when caught behind one on a single track road. That was in my youthfulness though were everything had to be fast and sitting behind the steering wheel of my Ford Capri with a caravan ahead it could feel the world was coming to a stand still.
Nowadays however my youthfulness years are long gone and slowing down a bit is the number 1 priority. I am in no rush to get were I am going, I know I will finish up there and as many people have told it is not the finish that's important its how you get there.
This statement is very true when flirting with the idea of buying a touring caravan. If you're the type of person that has to get everything when you want it in the quickest imaginable time then caravanning perhaps will be a shock to your system. Fast food and MTV maybe something that fills your normal daily routine but when pulling a caravan everything slows down.
The journey is half the fun of your vacation and reaching your caravan site safe and sound and in one piece is your number 1 priority. Irrespective if your about to start a short trip crossing nothing more than a county boarder or a much longer vaction journeying across international boarders, you should try and make the setting up, hitching up and packing up, along with the journey there, just as much fun as the time youra ctually on your vacation. Try and start your holiday the morning you wake up and not only after all the travelling has been done.
Touring caravans are a dandy way to see your own country without the added expense of hotels. They can also be a great way to explore other countries without hassle of train, flight or bus timetables. Just don't get hung up on doing things fast!
