- 1). Go to the Start menu and click "Control Panel." Click "Add or Remove Programs."
- 2). Scroll down to "Windows Internet Explorer 8" in the list of "Currently installed programs" (it may read "Windows Internet Explorer 8 Release Candidate 1"). Select it, and click "Remove."
- 3). Click "Next" in the Windows Internet Explorer 8 Removal Wizard that pops up. The wizard will do most of the work. If you get a warning stating that the Update for Windows Internet Explorer 8 was installed on your computer after Internet Explorer 8, and asking if you want to continue, click "Yes."
- 4). Click "Finish" in the dialogue box that states you need to click "Finish" to restart your computer and complete the uninstall.
- 5). Open Internet Explorer after the computer has restarted. Click "Help" and "About Internet Explorer." This will tell you what version you are running. It should show 6 or 7, whichever version was installed on your system prior to IE8.
