Security Safes - Be Protective of Your Belongings

Many people have valuables at their homes or businesses that they want to protect from both fire and burglary.
Security safes are a good value for those who wish to accomplish this.
There are so many different types and sizes available that almost anything can be kept safe at home or work.
Some of the different types of security safes include: - Lockboxes are very low security and are normally used to hold documents in one place and can easily be found and taken with you in the case of an emergency.
- Home/Office security safes typically hold jewelry, important documents and family mementos.
Media safes are used to hold hard drive backups and CDs.
- Fire proof safes can hold anything and their main difference from other types of safes is that they can withstand high temperatures.
- Wall safes fit within a wall and can be hidden by pictures, mirrors, etc.
- Gun safes can allow a gun owner to feel protected without worrying about someone else handling the weapon.
- Fingerprint safes are protected by encryption technology that scans your fingerprint to allow for increased security.
- Fake safes look like normal household or business items, which allow you to hide your valuables in plain sight and also travel with them easily.
- Floor safes tend to be larger and are usually found in businesses.
- Vaults are typically found in banks, casinos, jewelry stores and other businesses that hold large amount of cash or valuables but can also be found in homes that have numerous or large valuables.
Many of these are built like small rooms and some are freestanding units.
The security safes above range in price from fairly inexpensive to thousands of dollars.
The three factors that affect pricing in safes are resistance, size, and the lock type.
One thing to keep in mind is that larger does not always equal better.
If it's too large for you to lift and it's not fireproof it will not protect your documents in a fire.
Also, fireproof safes are only resistant to heat at certain levels and for usually no more than 4 hours.
There may be times that things within the safe will still show some damage if the fire was unusually hot or lasted for quite some time before being put out.
There are also different types of locking mechanisms on safes.
Some of the most common include padlocks, keys, key codes and built in rotary locks.
There are also some high-tech options, as mentioned earlier.
Most burglaries are considered "grab and go" situations where the burglar will spend a very limited amount of time on the property and because of this will not spend much time trying to pick or destroy the locking mechanism on safes they are unable to carry.
When considering security safes for your valuables you need to consider what will be in the safe, what you are protecting it from, the size required, the level of security you desire and how much you would like to spend on the purchase.
