Now, even though I'm in the will of God, I had to spend my morning making it very clear that I was depending on God, leaning, relying, clinging, praying, trusting. Okay, so through my faith the grace of God is flooding through right now, and what I'm called to do is not hard for me. I could stand here -- and you probably figured this out -- I could just talk, talk, talk.
I could do this and I don't even have to think about what I'm going to say. This is not a script I memorized. I didn't plan this out. You just throw me a subject and I'll talk. Amen? Well... I am functioning in a gift from God. But even though you have a gift from God, you still have to release your faith. You can't just assume: praise God, I'm gifted. I dare not ever have one day where I think: ah, piece of cake. I've been doing this for 30 years. No! I have to every day lean, rely, cling, depend, put my faith in, believe in, let God know that I know that I'm nothing without him.
By grace, through faith. Everything becomes easy when it's by grace, through faith. There are ways that you can tell when you're not flowing in the grace of God. I can tell when I get up here and start to preach. I did a meeting in Tulsa recently and I had a message planned. This doesn't happen to me very often but I had my message planned, I had my notes, I had it all thought out, and when I got in the service, I could just kind of tell that the message I was planning to preach wasn't going to go with the flow.
So now I'm going to need to preach something else that God wants me to preach with no notes and no prior preparation. But if I would have insisted on trying to do my thing, I would have been up there thinking to myself while I'm preaching: when is this going to be over? When the Holy Ghost is not in something, you're going to be miserable. When the Holy Spirit is not in something, you are going to be frustrated.
Joyce Meyer says, when the Holy Spirit is not in something, it is not going to work. There's no harm really in thinking that you're supposed to be doing something and stepping out into it because sometimes I say the only way to find out is to step out.
