- 1). Search for your POP3 server settings in a search engine, such as Google, Yahoo or Bing. For example, if you want to use your Gmail POP3 account in a third-party application such as Microsoft Outlook, search for "Gmail" and "POP Settings." The results will list your incoming and outgoing servers, along with the numbers of any ports that need to be added when configuring your account.
- 2). Locate the settings within the application used to check your POP3 accounts. For example, Windows Live Mail users select "Tools," "Accounts," and click on the account whose settings you want to view. Click "Properties" and "Servers." The incoming mail server is listed next to "Incoming Mail."
- 3). Contact your Internet service provider to retrieve your incoming (and outgoing) mail server settings. When you open an account with an ISP, you are given an email address and instructions for setting up your ISP email account in email applications, such as Outlook or Windows Live Mail.
