Indiana Jones is all about adventure, so it's little wonder kids enjoy this party theme. It's also about heroism as the archaeologist risks his life to find treasured items that may save the lives of several others. Even if you don't have real bull whips and bombs to set off in your yard, your party guests can enjoy some themed activities and have a fun time. - Indiana Jones came across piles of snakes during his quests. If you're cringing at the thought of bringing real snakes to your party, enjoy this game idea from Easy-Party-Ideas-and-Games.com that uses a rope as a snake. You'll need two pieces of rope that are about 12 feet long each. Have the kids stand in two lines shoulder to shoulder. To play, the first person in each line will begin to thread one end of the rope through his shirt sleeve and push it out the other sleeve. The person next to him will take the rope and do the same thing, passing the rope on down the line. The first team to thread their entire "snake" through the line and down on the ground at the other end wins.
- What would an adventure be without a treasure map to keep you on track? With this craft idea from Arts and Crafts Ideas, kids can make their own treasure maps out of large stones. If you don't have any large stones available, you could also use a square or rectangular patio brick. Have the kids paint their stone or brick with acrylic paint and a foam brush in any color they want. When the paint dries, they can use a permanent marker to draw the actual map, including an "X" (or several) to mark the spot for secret treasures. They might want to make a map that marks secret treasures in their house, bedroom or backyard.
- A classic game of hide and seek gets an Indiana Jones twist with this idea from Peppers and Pollywogs. Set up a tent in your backyard or create one using trees that are close together and a large white sheet. Just fold a king size flat sheet in half, nail the two corners by the fold to the trees and let the sides drape down and touch the ground. You can then use yard stakes to hold three of the bottom corners open and leave the other one free so kids can enter the tent. The tent will serve as the camp where kids return once they've been found. To add atmosphere to this, set up some tiki torches around the tent and in other places in the yard. You also could wait until it starts to get dark out, put piles of rubber snakes around the yard and play some Indiana Jones music outside to give the kids the feel of a real crusade.
