- 1). Remove the headlight mounting screws. On many models, screws reside inside of recessed mounting holes on the outside of the lens cover, or possibly on the outside of a trim ring, if it applies. Some headlights and lenses are held in by screws with mounts that can only be accessed when the hood of the car is opened, and if there are no obvious mounting holes on the outside of the lens, check beneath the hood around the lens assembly.
- 2). Remove the screws that hold on the headlight lens or trim ring.
- 3). Remove the lens cover or trim ring. If the headlight needs to be removed, unplug the wires and/or wiring harness that holds them in place.
- 4). Place a dab of toothpaste or a lens cleaner on a rag. Rub it onto the light and/or lens, whichever is applicable in your case. Rub gently but firmly. Allow it to dry. Buff it off using a soft rag.
