I found out about this campground from my sister, brother-in-law and their children who stay there 2 or 3 times a year and love it. I tent camped there in July 2009.
Describe your camping trip:
This is a small campground in the mountains near Brevard. My husband and I and my aunt and uncle spent a wonderful 3 days there last week. We were in a pop-up camper. The weather was great and the scenery at the campground and nearby were beautiful.
Pros: We liked the small size of the campground, less than 20 sites. They have cabins that look great. We will probably go back and stay in a cabin this winter. My sister found Ash Grove on the Internet and chose it because of all the good comments about the bathrooms (she's very fussy, sorry sis). We weren't disappointed, they were the cleanest I've ever seen. We were treated very well by the owners and enjoyed talking to other campers. The campground's quiet time starts at 10 pm, so we had a nice time sitting at the campfire and reminiscing with my aunt and uncle. My uncle had a knee replacement 2 months ago, so he wasn't able to go to many of the waterfalls in Brevard, but we walked around on all the trails and paths at Ash Grove and enjoyed the peace and beauty of Mother Nature. I have not been this relaxed in years.
Cons: Our trip there was too short is the only negative that I can come up with.
Nearby attractions: Waterfalls, Mud Dabbers Pottery, The Glass Feather, good restaurants in town.
Further comments: If Ash Grove had permanent sites, I might learn to live in a tent.
