- Buy a trellis arch or repurpose one from your own garden to create the foundation for your wedding arch. These instructions focus on decorating only the front of the trellis. Buy 8 yards of white tulle fabric. Open up the fabric and gather the center of the tulle in one hand. Cut an 8-inch length of craft wire and wire the gathered tulle to the top center of the trellis front.
Make a fabric swag on each side of the wired tulle center. Attach the tulle to each side of the top corner of the trellis with craft wire. Allow the tulle to drape down each side of the trellis. Measure 12 inches up from the bottom of one side of the tulle and attach it to the bottom of the trellis. The 12-inch excess of fabric will pool on the floor. Repeat on the other side of the trellis.
Find the center of the tulle on one side of the arch. Hand gather it and wire it to the center of the side of the trellis. Repeat on the other side. Note: You will have a lot of excess tulle between the ties of the trellis. - For a typical trellis, you will need 30 feet of ivy garland and 30 feet of rose garland cut into five, 6-foot lengths of each garland type. Cut several 8-inch pieces of craft wire to secure the garlands.
Wire the center of an ivy garland to the top center of the trellis arch. Note: You will be wiring in the same places that the tulle was wired. Loosely wind one side of the garland around the tulle and the trellis. Wire the end of the garland to the top side corner of the trellis front. Loosely wind the other side of the garland around the tulle and the trellis on the opposite corner. Wire another garland around the tulle and trellis from one top corner to the side center, and another one from the center to the bottom. Repeat on the other side of the trellis. Wire the rose garland over the ivy in the same way.
Pull and fluff the tulle through the wrapped vines to create a billowy effect. Cut 1-yard lengths of 6-inch-wide white tulle ribbon for each wired connection on the trellis. Wrap each ribbon around the trellis, tulle and garlands and tie them into bows at each wire.
