How to Apply Car Wax by Hand or With a Buffer

    • 1). Fill a bucket with warm water and add a mild detergent to it. Using a sponge, wash the entire car from top to bottom. Rinse the car with clean water and dry it thoroughly with a towel. Allow the car to completely dry because water droplets will cause the wax to run and make it harder to buff off.

    • 2). Apply a foam finishing pad to an electric buffer and rub the car wax onto the pad. When the foam pad is loaded with wax, begin slowly applying the wax to the car. Try and keep the coat of wax as thin as possible so it's easy to buff out. Let the wax dry.

    • 3). Apply the wax by hand if you don't have access to an electric buffer using a foam wax applicator. Apply a thin coat of wax to the car using the foam applicator. The wax should be applied as thin as possible for the best results. Let the wax dry.

    • 4). Buff the dried wax off the car in circular motions using a microfiber cloth. Continue buffing the wax with the micro fiber until you retain the shine you want. You can also use an electric buffer with a buffing pad.
