    • The Jeep Liberty is a type of sports utility vehicle that replaced the Cherokee in the company's annual lineup in 2002. The 2008 Liberty comes in four different versions. Among them are the Limited 4x2, Limited 4x4, Sport 4x2, and Sport 4x4. Upon its release, the 2008 Liberty was priced between $21,000 and $27,000.

    Measurements

    • The 2008 Liberty is 176.9 inches long, 72.4 inches wide, and 70.1 inches tall. The wheelbase is 106.1 inches and the turning radius is 35.5 inches. The front and rear tracks are both 61 inches, and the cargo bed is 41.7 inches wide.

    Space

    • Both editions of the 2008 Liberty have four doors and seat up to five passengers. The front headroom is 40.4 inches and the back seat headroom is 40.3 inches. The legroom in the front seat is 40.8 inches and the legroom in the back seat is 38.8 inches. The shoulder room in the front is 56.8 inches and 56.6 inches in the back.

    Fuel

    • All version feature a 19.5 gallon fuel tank and take regular unleaded gasoline. The four-wheel drive versions with four speed transmissions get 15 miles per gallon, or mpg, in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. The four-wheel drive versions with six speed transmissions get 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Both of the two-wheel drive versions get 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway regardless of transmission type.

    Power

    • All versions of the 2008 Liberty have 3.7 liter V6 engines with 210 horsepower. The Sport 4x4 and Sport 4x2 come with automatic four speed overdrive transmissions, though a six speed manual is optional. The Limited 4x4 and Limited 4x2 are only available with a four speed automatic transmission. The maximum payload of all versions is 1,150 pounds and the maximum towing amount is 5,000 pounds. The torque is rated at 235 pounds per feet for 4,000 revolutions per minute.

    Safety

    • Power locks, anti-lock brakes, and an anti-theft system are standard for all four versions. To help on tough roads or in inclement weather, traction control is also standard.
