We all look forward to spring: the flowers blooming, the sun shining through the windows and no hint of snow makes a lot of renters quite happy. This is also a time when a massive seasonal overhaul typically takes place in the form of spring cleaning.

All of those little chores and tasks around the house that got swept under the rug over the winter need to be accomplished now-- but there are some strategies that can help you better fit spring cleaning into your schedule.

Here are eight excellent spring cleaning tips and tricks to make this seasonal event less of a hassle for renters:

1. For Deep Cleaning Your Carpets and Upholstery

Over the winter, there's a good chance a lot of dirt, body oil, and grime have made their way into your furniture and carpeting. To avoid moving all of your furniture out of each room during deep cleaning sessions, simply place wax paper squares underneath the legs of your furniture so that your much-loved pieces are protected. Open the windows of the house to speed up the drying process.

2. For Cleaning the Oven:

A lot of people clean their ovens in the spring, which is a dirty, sweaty, and often time-consuming chore that not a lot of renters look forward to. Simplify this process by purchasing a non-stick oven liner. After the cleaning process is complete, you can simply wipe up the grimy residue with a cloth, then put the liner in the dishwasher for a spin. Not only is this a more sanitary option, but a non-stick oven liner can be used repeatedly.

3. For Dusting:

Forget those dirty rags and crumpled-up paper towels that aren't very green and opt for microfiber cloths during dusting. They'll pick up more dust, work on a variety of surfaces, they aren't too expensive and they can be machine washed easily.

4. For Windows:

Most of the grime and dirt on your windows is going to build up on the outside, so focus on these areas first, as they don't get much attention throughout the year. According to Real Simple, you might want to clean your windows on a wind-free overcast day, as too much sun can leave streaks.

5. For Ceiling Fans:

Did you know that you can change the direction of your ceiling fans based on the season? According to Martha Stewart, during the colder months many people will run their ceiling fans clockwise to create an upward draft, which allows warm air to settle around the floor. However, in the spring and summer months, fans can be redirected to a typical counter clockwise position to keep the heat at bay. While you are switching out the rotation, take this time to give those fans a good dusting, as they are often ignored during day-to-day house cleaning.

6. For Cleaning Out Kitchen Appliances:

Another big spring cleaning task is wiping up all of those splatters and spills in the microwave and fridge that have collected over the winter. Fortunately, all you need to conquer those tough stains is some baking soda, warm water, and an old toothbrush. A little elbow grease and those nasty stains should come right up. You might also want to take a vacuum to the fridge's vents or condenser coils in order to keep the system from overheating, according to Martha Stewart.

7. For Bathroom Cleaning:

Even if you don't see any mold or mildew on your shower liner, it's a good idea to throw it in the wash along with your towels. Doing this a few times per year can kill off grime and bacteria, and could help you save money in replacing it. Woman's Day also offered up a great suggestion for glass shower doors: Simply rub about a teaspoon of lemon oil on the surface to cause water to bead up or roll off. This can keep the shower much more sanitary-- and it smells great.

8. For Wood Furniture:

There's no need to spring for a fancy wood cleaner, according to Better Homes & Gardens. In fact, you probably have all of the ingredients for a fantastic wood cleaner in your kitchen already. Simply combine a ½ teaspoon of olive oil with a ½ cup of vinegar or lemon juice and combine in a spray bottle. All you need is a microfiber cloth and you're ready to dust. As an added bonus, this a much more earth-friendly way to get your furniture shining like new!

Finally, break up your tasks into small chunks so you don't feel overwhelmed with your schedule. Spring cleaning isn't exactly easy-- but it is a lot more manageable when you split up those chores over time!
