1998 Chevy Cavalier Specs

    • General Motors introduced the Chevrolet Cavalier in 1982. Designed to compete with the fuel efficiency of Japanese automobiles, the Cavalier remained in production until 2005. In 1998, General Motors produced the Chevy Cavalier in three body styles: coupe, sedan and convertible. While different 1998 Cavalier styles offered version-specific features, General Motors included a number of standard features in all versions.

    Interior

    • The 1998 Cavalier comes equipped with an AM/FM Delco stereo system and four speakers. Standard interior equipment includes cup holders, a clock and a four-speed ventilation system. The Cavalier can seat up to five people, with cloth bucket seating in front and a one-piece rear seat. General Motors also equipped Cavaliers with carpeting in the cargo and passenger areas. Front-seat passengers have a center armrest with storage box and storage door pockets. The Cavalier also features front and rear ashtrays and a cigar lighter.

    Performance

    • General Motors equipped its 1998 Cavaliers with a 2.2-liter, 115-horsepower, cast iron block engine as standard equipment. Customers also could choose an optional 2.4-liter engine. The fuel tank holds up to 15 gallons of unleaded fuel, with an injection fuel system. General Motors equipped the 1998 Cavalier with three-speed and four-speed automatic transmissions or a five-speed manual transmission. All Cavaliers feature a front-wheel-drive drivetrain.

    Handling

    • The 1998 Chevy Cavalier features power steering and an anti-lock disc braking system.

    Safety

    • Standard safety equipment in the 1998 Chevy Cavalier includes front-seat airbags for the passenger and driver. The front seat features reel, three-point seat belts for the driver and passenger and lap seat belts for passengers riding in the rear seat.

    Exterior

    • Exterior features of the 1998 Chevy Cavalier include black bumpers, intermittent windshield wipers and daytime running lights. The automobile comes equipped with heat reflective tinted glass, adjustable mirrors and halogen headlights. Sedans have four doors, and coupes and convertibles have two doors.

    Dimensions

    • The 1998 Chevy Cavalier has 37.5 inches of headroom in its front seating area and 36.6 inches of headroom in the back seat. It measures 180.7 inches in overall length, 68.7 inches in width and 53 inches in height.
