- 1). Note the way the boat is moving through the water. If the boat's bow is low in the water, the motor must be trimmed up. If the stern is low in the water, the motor must be trimmed down.
- 2). Press the "Up" segment of the tilt/trim control button, located on or near the throttle handle, to tilt the motor up, if the bow is plowing through the water.
- 3). Watch the boat's speedometer as you tilt the motor upward. Stop tilting the motor up as soon as the boat's speed increases. When the speed begins to drop, stop trimming the motor up.
- 4). Press the "Down" segment of the control if the stern of the boat sits low in the water. This tilts the motor down.
- 5). Watch the speed increase as the boat's trim changes. Stop trimming the boat when the speed begins to drop.
