- 1). Remove the brakelight from your car.
- 2). Saturate a soft-bristled toothbrush in a shallow bowl of warm water and 1 tablespoon of any dishwashing liquid.
- 3). Scrub the soap and water mixture directly onto the brakelight using the toothbrush. This will loosen up any dirt or debris. Pay special attention to any especially soiled areas.
- 4). Rinse the toothbrush completely with clean water. Add 1 teaspoon of toothpaste to the toothbrush.
- 5). Scrub the brakelight in firm, circular motions using the toothbrush and toothpaste. The abrasiveness of the toothpaste will cut though any remaining fog.
- 6). Clean any remaining toothpaste off of the brakelight using a wet cleaning rag as soon as you are finished scrubbing. Remove the toothpaste immediately to avoid buildup.
- 7). Spray a small amount of any cooking spray onto a dry cleaning rag, and rub it onto the brakelight. This will restore the clarity of the brakelight and add protection against further buildup.
- 8). Put the brakelight back on your car.
