- 1). Remove all food from the cupboards. Check for bug infestations. Look especially close at items such as flour. Dispose of anything that you think may contain bugs.
- 2). Place all food items, such as those in cardboard containers, in the refrigerator. Herbs and spices can also be stored in the refrigerator.
- 3). Place all canned food items in a box.
- 4). Remove all dishes, eating and cooking utensils and drinking glasses and cups from the cupboards and place them in a box.
- 5). Move the boxed items to an area that won't be subjected to the exterminator's chemicals.
- 6). Use a soapy rag to wipe out the interiors of all drawers and cupboards from which you have removed items.
- 7). Pull out the refrigerator and sweep behind it.
- 8). Clean the stovetop and under the range.
- 9). Remove kitchen curtains, towels and rugs. These will need to be laundered, in case they contain pest eggs.
