- 1). Turn off the engine. Pop the hood on the Chevrolet. Remove the air filter housing by removing the wing nut at the top of the filter. Pull it off and away from the engine.
- 2). Locate the fuel line leading into the carburetor, which is on the passenger side of the engine. Loosen the fuel line running into the carburetor using a pair of open-end wrenches by holding the filter fitting at the carburetor's fuel line intake hole with one wrench, and loosening the fuel line with the other. Remove the fuel filter, O-ring and spring from the fuel line intake hole.
- 3). Insert the spring into the fuel line, then the replacement fuel filter. Install a replacement O-ring on the filter and reassemble the fuel line using a pair of wrenches. Reinstall the air filter housing, then replace and tighten the wing nut.
