How to Enjoy Eating at Restaurants Without Killing Your Diet

Restaurants always seem to pose a great dilemma for anybody on a diet.
On the one hand, you don't want to eat too much and ruin your diet, but on the other hand you don't want to be paying high prices for salads and whole wheat sandwiches.
So how do you resolve this dilemma? - First of all, never up-size any of your meals.
Restaurant servings are almost always bigger than what we normally eat at home or than what we need to eat, so making a meal even bigger only does more damage to a diet.
in addition to not up-sizing, you can make your meals smaller by either splitting a meal with a friend or ordering two or three things from the appetizer menu to share with someone.
Both these solutions will save you both money and calories.
- Stay away from the bread.
Restaurants always seem to bring out a bread basket at the beginning of your meal.
This is great for the restaurant, as it fills you up and means you're likely to leave the restaurant satisfied, but it's not so good for you.
Enjoy the food which you are paying good money for, and skip the high calorie, low nutrient bread which you can eat almost any time, anywhere.
- Stick with water to drink.
Not only can drinks end up adding a huge amount your bill at the end of a meal, they can also add lots of calories to your daily intake.
Stick with water instead of soda or alcohol, and both your wallet and your waistline will thank you.
- Remove fat and skin.
If you order any kind of meat dish, especially steaks or other red meat, make sure you take off any skin and fat that you can see.
This will already save you a large amount of calories, so even if you love the taste of skin, it's worth your while to get rid of it.
- Finally, remember that you can always ask to take some food home in a doggie bag.
Don't feel like you need to stuff yourself just because you've paid for the meal; restaurants are used to people taking their leftovers home, so get used to it as well and you'll be able to enjoy eating out much more.
Restaurants don't have to be a burden when you're dieting.
By implementing these basic tips and practicing self-control, you can still enjoy eating out without destroying your diet.
