- 1). Remove all paper covering the box, and cut the flaps off of one end of the box and set aside.
- 2). Use the ruler and pencil to create the outline for a door stretching from the bottom of the box with the flaps cut off to 6 inches below the top.
- 3). Turn the box to another side and draw the outline of a one foot square window. Create another window on the opposite side of the box, if desired.
- 4). Cut out both the door and the window outlines using the utility knife.
Stand the box up so the base of the door sits at the bottom. - 5). Glue the empty paper towel rolls to all four sides of the box in rows, starting at the bottom and working your way up. Cut the rolls with the utility knife to fit around the door and window, if necessary, before gluing them to the log cabin.
- 6). Tape one end of the two largest flaps cut from the cardboard box at a 90 degree angle to create a triangular roof.
- 7). Cover the roof with brown masking tape in even rows to resemble wooden planks and to hold the cardboard pieces together.
- 8). Glue the bottom edges of the roof to the top of the cardboard box to set the roof in place and finish the log cabin.
