- One of the few places in the city where you can accommodate a large group of teens, and have plenty to do, is Chelsea Piers on the west side of Manhattan (23rd St. and 11th Ave., also known as the West Side Highway and Route 9A). The piers includes a full sports complex with just about every sport you can think of, including bowling, and spaces to book a private after-prom party. So you can either gather early on in the day after prom and make reservations to play games at two or three attractions at the piers, or make an entire night of it by booking a party at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, which is designed for a party of 100 to 800 guests.
- Since proms are commonly held in warm-weather months in NYC, you can find something to do in Central Park. There is a series of events held yearly in Central Park called "Summer Stage" that starts in early June. There are musical, dance, and acting performances held in the park throughout the summer. See "References" below for a list of upcoming events and location information. Even if the Summer Stage events don't fall around your after-prom date, you can still all go to a restaurant around dinner time and then take a stroll through Central Park to talk and enjoy each others' company as one of your last chances to convene as a group in this way.
- For the people in your crowd who are 18 and over, you can stay out later to visit some clubs that have an "18 to party, 21 to drink" policy. A few clubs to call or research are Café Wha? on 115 MacDougal Street (mixture of rock, R&B, and reggae---212-254-3706), CBGB at 313 Bowery (punk and alternative rock---212-982-4052) and Exit at 610 W 56th (everything from Techno to Hip Hop---212-582-8282).
