- 1). Find a suitable location for your air pump. You can place the air pump inside your aquarium stand to keep it out of sight, or mount it on a shelf hanging from the outside of your tank.
- 2). Attach the aquarium tubing to the valve on the air pump. Cut the air tubing off about two to three inches from the air pump. Use sharp scissors and make sure the cut is straight.
- 3). Insert the check valve into the air tubing attached to the aquarium air pump. Attach additional air tubing to the other end of the check valve.
- 4). Run the air tubing to the filter or appliance you want to run with the air pump. Cut the tubing off, and attach it to the pump or appliance. Plug your air pump into an electrical outlet.
