- The Oklahoma City Zoo offers several beautiful and romantic options for an anniversary visit, including the famous Butterfly Garden, home to hundreds of species of these delicate and lovely creatures. The Aquarium is another part of the zoo where you can surround yourself with the colors and unique beauty of tropical fish. If you and your spouse are animal lovers or enjoy nature, you can also stroll through the Cat Forest and along the Oklahoma Trail exhibits. You can even rent space at the zoo---a favorite spot for Oklahoma City weddings and other celebrations---for an elegant catered party.
- The two gifts associated with second anniversaries---cotton and china---are in artistic bloom throughout the Paseo Arts District, at Northwest 30th and Dewey. This Oklahoma City attraction boasts more than 30 art galleries, clothing boutiques, restaurants and shops. It is an ideal place to shop for a special second-anniversary gift, such as china and art class, fabric art or jewelry. Other popular shopping areas with clothing boutiques, restaurants and unique shops include Bricktown, the Western Avenue District and Casady Square. Bricktown, once an industrial area, is now a hot and happening neighborhood that encompasses the lovely Myriad Botanical Gardens, featuring flowers from all over the world, unique shopping that showcases Native and local artists, and fun, casual dining and nightclubs with live music.
- If you and your spouse are fans of the wild west, the rodeo or western history, celebrate your anniversary by exploring the history of Oklahoma City. Check out the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, the Ninety-Nines Museum of Women Pilots, the Oklahoma History Center, the Southern Plains Indian Museum, or, if you're there in September, the International Finals Rodeo, with riders and horses from all over the world. While the Historic Stockyards, a National Register Historic District, might not sound like an anniversary destination, it is a great attraction for history lovers. With livestock auctions on Mondays and Tuesdays and a plethora of shops selling handcrafted cowboy boots, jewelry and other clothing, home décor and antiques, as well as information on the history of the area, it is well worth a day's visit that can include the purchase of a special memento and dinner at the renowned Cattlemen's Stakehouse, founded in 1910, which offers both fine dining and casual dining options.
- A nice dinner out is always a good way to celebrate a special day. According to Oklahoma City food critic Adam Knapp, you have a large range of fine dining options: the Cattlemen's Steakhouse, which opened in 1910; seafood at The Deep Fork Grill; Italian classics at Nonna's Euro-American Ristorante and Bar. Knapp's top five romantic dining spots include the candlelit and atmospheric Haunted House; the Boulevard Steakhouse; The Mantel in Bricktown, which offers indoor dining as well as an outdoor patio; the elegant Museum Cafe, located in the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, which offers French cuisine; and Jutta's Keller at Castle Falls, located in a nineteenth-century castle and serving German cuisine under lantern lights.
