- 1). Paint the outside of the can with acrylic paint. Let the first coat dry before applying a second coat to get full coverage. Don't worry about painting the lid and the bottom of the can; you cover those later. Let the second coat dry completely.
- 2). Pour a third of a cup of dried kidney beans into the can. Place the lid on the can, and duct tape it in place.
- 3). Fold your one-third yard of fabric in half widthwise. Trace the opening of your bowl onto the fabric with tailor's chalk. Cut the circle out of both layers of fabric.
- 4). Place one circle of fabric over the top of the can, over the taped-on lid, and use a rubber band to hold it in place. Put the other circle of fabric over the bottom of the can. Use a rubber band to hold the fabric in place.
- 5). Cut two 12-inch-long lengths of 1-inch-wide ribbon. Tie one length of ribbon over each rubber band you placed around the can to hide it. Tie the ribbon in a knot or bow, and trim the tails.
- 6). Shake the can vigorously back and forth to make noise.
