I found out about this campground on Google, and I cabin camped there in July 2007.
Describe your camping trip:
We had a family gathering and stayed in the Serenity Cottage, plus we also had an RV site. We fell in love with the cottage. It was so clean, open and comfortable. The owners seemed to have thought of everything and made it so welcoming and inviting. We truly hated to leave at the end of our visit.
The cottage sits directly on the river, and there is a long screened porch fronting the river that's perfect for relaxing, playing cards and even sleeping. You can go upriver and tube or kayak to your door, fly fish off the banks, and sit along the banks by a campfire.
Pros: Clean, not too crowded like other nearby campgrounds, convenient to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the Smokies without the traffic hassles. Owners pay attention to details and seem concerned that visitors enjoy their visit. Nice pool and hot tub convenient to both the RV sites and the cabins. Best part for us is that we were able to have extended family in one campground with the cottages and RV sites within walking distance of each other. And the best campground bathrooms that we have seen so far.
Cons: Fairly new RV area that is situated in a former field, so not much shade yet. They do have trees planted though that will provide shade later. River frontage for RVers is not as accessible as for the cottages. Recommend that the river frontage for the RVers be expanded more, so they have easier access to the river.
Right now, access needs improved. Our group had plenty of access because we also had a cottage with great river frontage, so even our RV crowd spent most days at the river fronting the cottage. Also wish they would offer additional multi-week discounts at the cabins, because we loved it so much that we would stay more than one week, if multi-week discount rates are offered.
Nearby attractions: Great Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Knoxville, shopping.
Further comments:
This is one of those places that you miss the minute you leave and hope to come back to again and again.
