- 1). Secure the ladder with a rope or metal bracket when storing vertically. This ensures that the ladder will not fall if the ladder is placed above the ground.
- 2). Place a ladder into a ladder rack if you choose to store it vertically. Otherwise the ladder could be bumped and tip over onto a person or pet.

- 5). Avoid storing the ladder outdoors or in any area where it can be easily seen. The ladder could be stolen or used to participate in a crime.
