- AOL broadband works alongside any broadband connection you may have. High-speed Internet is typically purchased as cable Internet from a cable company, DSL provided by a phone company, or satellite provided by a satellite provider. Contact your local cable, telephone or satellite provider to learn what options are available in your area.
- AOL Broadband has all the features you have become accustomed to with traditional dial-up AOL, such as email, instant messaging and Web browsing, except now it is offered at higher speeds. AOL Broadband users can use the same email address and username that they used with their dial-up AOL Internet connection.
- Download the AOL Broadband software by going to the AOL homepage (while connected to the Internet via your broadband connection). Click the "Upgrade" button. AOL will automatically detect your broadband Internet connection and offer you the option to download AOL for broadband.
- AOL for Broadband is available as a free download from the AOL website. Email and instant messaging are offered free of charge.
- If you are using AOL broadband on a laptop computer, you may want to continue to pay for AOL's dial-up service so you can access the Internet while you are traveling away from home.
