- 1). Select a location for the planter to avoid having to lift and move it later.
- 2). Turn the empty fiberglass planter upside down and see if there are drain holes in the bottom. If not, use a drill to create three or four 1/4-inch holes in the bottom of the planter. Fill the planter 3/4 full with potting soil.
- 3). Dig a hole in the center of the soil approximately 4 to 5 inches deep. Place the plant into the hole and pack the potting soil around it firmly.
- 4). Water the plant immediately until the soil is moist, but do not overwater.
