It is that time of year again.
Time to set goals.
Of course you want the best things to happen for you but do you actually write your goals down? Deciding your goals and then writing your goals down is the first step towards attainment of those goals.
It is amazing the number of people who never write then goals down.
Without putting goals on paper where they can be seen at least weekly prevents the goals from becoming real action steps.
Regarding your goals, do not make them vague.
If they are vague how will you know for certain that you attained that goal or are heading in the correct direction? Make then based on a number.
Example, you will exercise three times a week, or you will lose 15 pounds by March 19, etc.
Next you need to figure out what the steps are in attaining your goals.
If you are unsure what a logical next step may be for your project then ask someone.
You also need to place a time limit to begin each step and to do that action.
If your goals involve exercise then you will need to physically get up and do the exercises you choose.
Without a set date it is easier to keep putting it off till a later date.
After a few times it gets too easy to completely ignore the goal.
Allow some flexibility for your start times and deadlines.
For example, if your goal is to do an exercise DVD at home on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of each week then allow yourself to miss an occasional session due to an obligation.
But do this with the commitment to yourself that you will exercise three days a week, it just will have to be changed a little for that week.
Be committed to yourself.
If you do not work towards your goals you are letting yourself down and perhaps even your family.
Another good way to attain your goals is to involve other people with your goals.
Example, agree to meet a friend on Wednesday at your house to exercise.
This greatly increases compliance with your goals.
Writing down your goals is the best thing a person can do to make progress on attaining their goals.
I hope you take the needed steps toward success.
