- 1). Check the gas level in your brush hog. Fill it if necessary, then start your brush hog with the pull cord.
- 2). Push the brush hog along the grass, making sure to keep the string at the desired level over the grass or weeds. For heavier weeds or brush with thick stalks, make more than one pass until they are knocked down. These have a tendency to "eat" the string, too, so check the string often and replace when needed.
- 3). Rake the area when finished.
