AT THE MOMENT OF DEATH
When my friend's wife died, he read my book Between Heaven and Earth, and call for a conversation about death. I went to bed thinking of when I had lost my father and mother. I had reacted differently to each death. Death, to my way of thinking, is a personal experience for those who face it themselves and to those who bury their dead. Perhaps with the exception of grief, we have no stock emotions. Since I still held the foundation of my religious beliefs at that time, what was important to me was to know where my parents had gone after they had left earth.
My friend came to my house the following night. After some formalities, we got right into the conversation about death. His first concern was about dying.
"I guess the average man doesn't know too much about dying and where he goes after he leaves here. Does he?" he asked.
"I wouldn't think so," I agreed. "During my training with a spirit overseer to help the dead pass over, I have seen people dying and viewed them immediately after their death. Dying is like going to sleep night. Let me give you an example of how I see it. I think every one has had an experience where he or she falls asleep without knowing it, like when watching television. They wake up and find themselves seeing another program and wonder what has happened. Another example occurred a few nights ago when I had a bad cold. After tossing around in bed for a while, I told my wife that I couldn't sleep and that I was going to take a sleeping pill. She then told me that, a minute before, I had been snoring. To believe nothing drastic has happened, is my interpretation of passing out of the body, whether it's temporary or permanent. Some do awakened and float to the ceiling to see their friends and family crying.
During the transition of my mother, her six children stood around her deathbed. Later, one of my sisters, a clairvoyant, described this vision: "As Mama breathed her last, I saw Daddy come down and gently take her by the hand, and together they arose above the bed and disappeared."
Death is an illusion, because you stay as you are. It is hard to believe this concept by most people. If they truly understand their situation to know that they are dead, they can release themselves of physical pain and not prolong it, as some do on their deathbed.
However, you will not forget who you are. You will carry your name as Mr. and Mrs. for some time on the other side until you take further action to expand your awareness.
We are never alone in this vast universe--in or out of the body--and death is a peaceful state with warm greetings from the other side.
