This new design is a variation on LGs G Flex smartphone as it retains the familiar appearance only with a vertically curved intended to fit comfortable upon the average human face, thereby delivering a quality of voice and sound superior to LGs competitors. This new design works so well because the rounded edges increase sound levels by 3dB which gives it a considerable advantage over the flat faced smartphone. Like the design, the phones battery is also curved.
This impressive new rounded shape has other benefits too, as it allows users to have a more powerful grasp on the plastic body when in use. LG have also boasted that it has also been shown to fit more securely in users pockets, thus minimising the likelihood of it falling out. The phone design also has technological advantages too. Its landscape viewing mode presents a wide high quality display ideal for watching videos and playing games.
The G Flex gets its curved shape and robust body from the 6 inch plastic screen it features. The phones buttons are on its rear rather than on the side which means it is less likely to get turned off accidentally. This also means that for even greater convenience, users can adjust the volume dial with their index finger and not have to interrupt their conversation.
The G Flex is also the first smartphone produced by LG to make use of 'Self-Healing' covering on the back cover, an elastic backing which can cause the phone to easily mend itself from the daily minor scratches that smartphones without protective casing and screen covers experience naturally. Other features of the phone include a 13-Megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-Megapixel front camera for video calls. The curved battery has an impressive power volume of 3,500mAh, more than enough for a full days use.
The G Flex is being released hot on the heels of rival manufacturer Samsungs launch of the Galaxy Round smartphone which also boasts a curved screen. Both the LG Flex and the Galaxy Round are currently only available in South Korea. If they are a success, an international release should follow soon. The curved design has already proven a hit with other technological mediums following LG and Samsungs release of televisions with curved organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display settings. The flexible quality if OLED screens could revolutionise smartphones to create foldable mobile phones and make their screens virtually unbreakable. Soon the only problems we mobile users will have to worry about are the data roaming charges our networks charge us.
