- 1). Towel dry your phone and power it off. Do not try to turn it on to see if it still works because doing this may damage the circuitry.
- 2). Flip the cellphone over and remove the cover to the battery. Pop out the battery as quickly as possible and set it on a paper towel to dry. Remove the memory card and SIM card if the cellphone has one. Set them to dry on a paper towel.
- 3). Wipe down any visible moisture on the cellphone with a clean paper towel.
- 4). Lay the phone down with the number pad or touch pad facing down on a paper towel. Spray down the back of the cellphone with a can of compressed air. Spray every inch of the back of the cellphone with the can, holding it about an inch away. The air will force any water out the other side of the phone and onto the paper towel.
- 5). Bury the cellphone, along with the battery, in a bowl of uncooked white rice. Let them sit for 24 hours to allow the rice to suck any leftover moisture from the components.
- 6). Remove the phone and battery from the rice and use the can of compressed air to blow away any rice dust.
- 7). Reinsert the battery, memory card, and SIM card. Replace the battery cover and power on the phone. If the phone does not power on, repeat these steps.
