Duct tape isn't just for use in your garage or tool shed. It's also very durable, comes in many colors and is perfect for crafting. Inexpensive duct tape comes in many different colors and can be turned into crafts ranging from simple wallets to skirts and dresses. Grab some duct tape and turn it into an interesting project. Involve kids for an afternoon of crafting. - Make a beautiful bow with duct tape. These can be used for household decorations or to top a present. Cut duct tape into 7-inch strips for a big bow. Adapt that measurement if you'd like smaller bows. Fold each strip to make a loop on each side, sticking the ends to meet each other in the center of the strip, but leaving about an inch of sticky tape exposed. Arrange the strips on top of each other in varying directions to form the bow. Use the exposed sticky parts to attach the pieces together. About six strips should make a nice sized bow.
- Make a picture frame out of duct tape by cutting four strips of tape that are 3 3/4-inches long, and four more strips of tape that are 9 inches long. These will form the sides of the frame. Stick the matching pieces together, sticky sides facing each other, to form double-sided pieces of tape. Attach each side of the frame using 1-inch segments of tape. Reinforce the frame, and liven up the appearance, by going over the bottom and top pieces with another piece of tape in a different color. Decorate the frame as you like and use tape to place your picture inside it. You can attach magnets to the back to make a cute decoration for your refrigerator.
- A simple duct tape craft for kids to do is to make a bookmark. Allow kids to pick their favorite color, since duct tape can be purchased in a variety of colors. Cut two strips of duct tape that are 5 inches long, and stick the sticky sides together. This will create a double-sided bookmark. Punch a hole in the top with a hole punch and tie a ribbon through it. Finally, allow kids to decorate their bookmarks with stickers, foam cut-outs or permanent markers.
