- 1). Pop the hood. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery using an open-end wrench. Locate the exhaust manifold on the front of the engine, which is covered by a heat shield. Look down the exhaust manifold towards the ground to find the oxygen sensor on the passenger side of the manifold. This is a silver cylinder, approximately three inches long, with a wire running out of it. Unplug that wiring using your hands.
- 2). Unbolt the oxygen sensor from the exhaust manifold using the oxygen sensor socket and the 3/8-inch ratchet. Discard the old sensor.
- 3). Apply the anti-seize compound onto the threads on the oxygen sensor. Make sure not to apply the compound onto the head of the sensor. Thread the sensor into the exhaust manifold first by hand, then using the ratchet and oxygen sensor socket. Plug the sensor into the stock wiring. Reconnect the negative terminal on the battery using an open-end wrench.
