The modern man is vastly different from our early human ancestors, who were said to have dwelled in caves and eat raw meat off the bone. Perhaps our hunting skills are a little out of practice and we can no longer weather the elements that faced early man, rather, we stay snug indoors, using our various technological appliances. We have arguably evolved into a different species; most of us left to our own devices without the help of modern technology, would perish into the harshness of mother nature within days or weeks. Nowadays, the average person's knowledge of how to grow their own food is sub par. What's more, its not so much "survival of the fittest" as "survival of the richest," or at least, those with the most resources.

So what does this all mean for the humans we have become in this day and age? Hopefully over the past tens of thousands of years we have gained a few new skills here and there that we can boast to the cavemen. Many have taken advantage of modern convenience, hoarding resources beyond the point of ensuring their survival through the next harsh winter. Many of us now wallow in the material excess of modern society.

However, the loss of our survival skills has been compensated by various advances in human civilization that can be seen as an evolution of our species. Yes, we have come to rely heavily on machines and modern technology to go about our daily lives. But this modern technology has also revolutionized the way that we learn, communicate and interact between human societies and cultures. We now live in a world in which our potential to connect with the rest of the globe is exponentially greater than any time in human history. The invention of satellite internet has made this possible, creating a network of infinite possibilities, unlimited subjects and enormous potential. Internet technology has most definitely become the wave of the future, defining our current civilization as a generation of techie wizards that keep us asking, "what will they come up with next?" And who knows what they'll come up with next, the technology seems to be developing faster and faster as we go. And not only that but the use of such technology is more and more prevalent in society. In most first world nations, as of just a few years ago, it was commonplace for most households and offices to be equipped with computer and satellite broadband connection. Now, it would not seem exceedingly strange to see a fourteen-year-old teenybopper twittering on her laptop in public.

It is now possible to connect yourself with virtually anyone or anything with the use of satellite internet broadband. We have become a global society, a network of interconnected humans more mobile and with more information at their fingertips than ever before. It's anyone's guess where the continuing evolution of the human species will lead us, perhaps into outer space, or possibly we will morph into something new entirely.
