Camping - An Economical Vacation for Single Mothers

Many parents, especially single mothers, struggle to find affordable vacation ideas.
Everyone wants to have a great vacation, but many times taking a trip entails big expenses that can be hard to cover.
There are many economical vacation ideas for families on a budget, and camping is one of the most fun, educational, and economical choices.
Spending time outdoors with friends and family is fun, especially for kids who will really enjoy the change of scenery and the novel setting.
Camping is also not very expensive, and only requires a few supplies that can be purchased economically and a campsite rental fee.
Most places have camping areas within driving distance so the only travel costs will be the drive there and back.
You can find tents and camp sets at most major discount stores, and many times you can find a camping set containing a tent, chairs, a small cooler, lantern, and more for $100 or less.
If you are one an even stricter budget, you can even purchase many items used from various sources and save even more money.
You will not have to buy food for your trip other than what you would normally eat, as most things can be cooked over a camp fire.
Entertainment while camping is either free, such as hiking, nature trails, exploring, and games, or inexpensive with camp area boat rentals usually being a few dollars an hour.
If you are worried about the logistics of camping, setting up camp with children is not usually as hard as it may seem.
Most kids are eager to help and can carry items to the camp site or help unpack.
Even small children can help by gathering sticks for firewood.
It is important to set up a few ground rules while camping, such as making sure young children stay within eyesight and away from any fires.
Camping is economical because there are many fun things to do that do not cost anything.
Finding things to do while camping is not as hard as it may seem, even if your camping area does not have any recreation.
Children will enjoy making up their own games and exploring the outdoors.
You can create simple scavenger hunt for your kids by giving them a list of things found in your area to look for, such as pinecones, leaves of different colors and types, flowers, rocks, insects, and other naturally occurring things.
Most camping areas have playgrounds for kids, nature and hiking trails, and even boat rentals to enjoy.
Kids love to learn, so you can also share your knowledge of the outdoors with them during your trip.
If you are not familiar with outdoorsy type things, look up a few facts about different plants, animals, and other natural things to share with your kids.
Kids will enjoy learning about poisonous plants, insects, and animals.
Sharing this knowledge will also help them to avoid dangerous insects and plants.
Camping can be a fun and economical vacation for families no matter what their budget.
