- 1). There are two ways of recovering beeswax: the solar wax melter method (a solar panel painted black box) and the stove method, which is easiest. Place your old combs and slums in a deep stockpot and fill with water. It should be 1/3 full of water and 1/3 full of wax.
- 2). Heat up the water gradually. Do not boil the water. Beeswax melts at 147 degrees Fahrenheit (64 degrees Celsius).
- 3). As the wax begins to melt, stir occasionally. When the wax is completely melted, remove the pot from heat to a place where it can cool down slowly. As this occurs, you will notice the wax begin to float to the surface of the water and dirt and debris float to the bottom. When the water is cold, remove the wax. Its now ready to be used as you see fit.
