- 1). Pull the hood release lever and set the hood support bar.
- 2). Set the battery charger near the car battery. Attach the red clamp to the positive battery terminal. Attach the black clamp to the negative battery terminal.
- 3). Plug the power cord for the battery charger into an electrical outlet.
- 4). Read the needle gauge to see the current voltage. If the voltage is too low the battery may be drained or dead.
- 5). Allow the battery to charge for at least six hours and then try to start the engine.
- 1). Look under the dash on the drivers side of the vehicle and locate the fuse panel.
- 2). Remove the access cover for the fuse panel. This is typically a door that you can pull open.
- 3). Pull out the fuses with the needle nosed pliers. Examine each fuse to see if the metal strip is broken. If the metal strip is broken, then the fuse has blown.
- 4). Replace a blown fuse with a new one.
- 1). Verify that you have an updated fuel sending pump for your Nissan. A recall was issued for the 2000 Frontier because of a crack that can develop in the plastic molding of the fuel sending unit. Moisture can then get into the terminal strip and cause it to corrode.
- 2). Verify that your Nissan Frontier has had the transmission cable lock plate replaced. A recall was issued for the 2000 Frontier because of a crash hazard involving the gear shift level.
- 3). Take the vehicle to a dealer to see if the repairs have been made for your vehicle.
