Celebrate Halloween by surprising children with festive gift items. Go above and beyond traditional Halloween candy and pick spooky and sweet gifts to mark the holiday. Bake themed goodies or design handmade gifts for a thoughtful and personalized touch. Hand the treats out to trick-or-treaters instead of basic candy, or use them as creative Halloween party favors. You can also help your kids make the items as gifts for their friends, teachers and loved ones. - Surprise kids with goody bags filled with all of their favorite holiday treats. Save time and money by including a mix of handmade and store-bought items. Create creepy-looking treat bags using a few basic craft supplies. Draw jack-o-lantern and ghosts faces on clear cellophane bags using black markers. Insert orange tissue paper into the bags featuring the jack-o-lantern designs, and white tissue paper into the bags with ghost faces. Fill the bags with small Halloween toys, wrapped candy, homemade frosted cookies, plastic spider rings and wax teeth. Tie the bags with ribbons or yarn prior to presenting the gifts.
- Kids can create whimsical candy corn-inspired pins to give to their friends and classmates. The pins look just as sweet at the real things but will last a lot longer. To create the pins, cut candy corn shapes out of yellow, orange and white craft felt. Glue the pieces together to resemble a piece of candy corn. Glue a pin backing to the back of the craft so recipients can pin them to shirts, jackets or any other clothing item they desire. Kids can glue small magnets to the back of the felt craft in place of pin backings as another option. Other Halloween designs include black bats and spiders cut out of black felt and ghosts made from white felt.
- Kids will love sinking their teeth into handmade Halloween caramel apples, which will make an ideal gift for any child on your list. Kids can also make these autumn-inspired treats during Halloween parties and take them home as favors. To make the delectable and juicy desserts, insert wooden sticks into crisp apples and dip them into melted caramel sauce. Place the dipped apples on a sheet of wax paper and decorate them with black and orange candy sprinkles. Allow them to harden in a refrigerator. Wrap them in clear cellophane baggies and tie them with orange ribbons; attach a plastic spider ring to the ribbon as a festive touch.
