How to Use the Kirby Sentria

    • 1). Adjust the power nozzle's height by pressing the toe-touch control on the left side of the vacuum's base. There are seven different heights, and the lowest works best for hardwood and linoleum floors. The highest of the seven adjustments works best for shag carpet.

    • 2). Add a disposable filter bag to the adaptor hose by first unzipping the protective covering on the back of the vacuum. Snap the cardboard-encircled hole in the disposable filter bag over the adaptor hose and tuck the bag into the protective covering. Zip the protective covering to secure the disposable filter bag in place.

    • 3). Plug the Kirby Sentria's power cord into a power outlet. The Kirby Sentria requires a three-pronged outlet.

    • 4). Press the power switch, which is located in the center of the base of the Kirby Sentria. Use your foot to press the power switch while holding the handle of the vacuum in an upright position.

    • 5). Press the lever release on the left side of the vacuum cleaner's base. Use your left foot to press the lever release while holding the vacuum's handle in place. With the release depressed, lower the handle to a comfortable operating position.

    • 6). Push the Sentria forward slowly, allowing it to suck up dirt, dust and debris. Using short, back-and-forth motions, work your way across the floor in a pattern of straight lines to ensure you do not miss an area.

    • 7). Press the power switch with your foot when you have finished vacuuming. Lift the vacuum handle into an upright position until it snaps into place. Unplug the vacuum. Wrap the power cord around the cord securing latches and snap the end in place.
