How do I Modify a Roketa 250 Motor Scooter Engine to Increase Performance?

    • 1). Unscrew the bolts around the perimeter of the Roketa's CVT case lid going clockwise around the case starting with the bolt directly above the kickstart. The CVT case is the silver, tubelike case on the left side of the scooter.

    • 2). Pull the CVT case lid off the case. You will need to wiggle the case lid to detach the internal workings of the kickstart from the gear system in the CVT. The case lid will also remain connected to the engine by a hose, so you will need to set the case lid aside.

    • 3). Insert a bolt into the hole located behind the front gear wheel at about seven o'clock.

    • 4). Wedge the end of a flathead screwdriver between the teeth of the front gear wheel and lever it against the bolt you inserted into the hole at seven o'clock.

    • 5). Grasp the bar of the flathead screwdriver against the bolt with a pair of pliers to hold it in place.

    • 6). Crack the center bolt securing the front gear wheel using a socket wrench while ensuring the wheel won't turn by holding the screwdriver and bolt in place with the pliers.

    • 7). Pull the gear wheel out of the CVT case.

    • 8). Pull the belt off the bar behind the gear wheel you just removed.

    • 9). Remove the spacing washer and the cylindrical roller weight case from the front gear rod. The spacing washer restricts the amount of contact between the belt and the rod, so removing it will allow your CVT to operate at full capacity.

    • 10

Open up the back of the roller weight case with the loop end of a standard wrench.

    • 11

Remove the five roller weights from the inside of the roller weight case. You can either leave the case empty, or replace the roller weights with lighter weights to improve efficiency.

    • 12

Reassemble and reinsert the roller weight case.

    • 13

Rehook the drive belt and reposition the front gear wheel.

    • 14

Rescrew the front gear wheel and the lid of the CVT case.
