When I began blogging I had no idea what Wordpress was, so I'm writing this to clear it up for newbies who have no idea what's going on with these 3 types of blogs.
Once you have an understanding of which one does this or that or don't do this or that you can make a better decision on which to use.
1.
Let's start with the newest addition to WP, which would be Wordpress Direct.
This starts out as a free platform.
You get 3 free blogs that are set up for you with plugins and all.
You even get auto content which helps out if you don't care about the fact that it's recycled/duplicate content.
If you want more than 3 blogs you will need to upgrade to Silver or Gold status which will cost upwards to $100 plus.
There is a controversy over whether it's worth it or not.
I don't think it is, but there are others who are all for it.
I say get your free three and check it out.
2.
Then there's Wordpress.
com it is also a free blogging platform, however, it's always free and it doesn't have the option of paying money to upgrade.
The problem with WP.
com is that you cannot monetize it.
No Google ads or affiliate links.
They may change this soon from what I hear, but for right now it's a no go.
The last I heard of a WP.
com making money was the blog "Stuff White People Like.
" That guy got a book deal offer he accepted with a $300,000 advance.
Not bad huh? 3.
Then there's Wordpress.
org, this is the one that most bloggers use if they're serious about making money.
You will need to buy your own domain and hosting it's not a free platform.
There are free theme/templates available and you can install it yourself with tutorials on YouTube if you're not techie.
This is my favorite of the three because of the freedom you have.
You own it so nobody can shut you down like they can with the free versions.
It's yours and you can do as you please with it.
If you're interested in making money blogging go with WP.
org, domain and hosting are very reasonable.
A domain is under $10 and hosting is about $10 a month.
And if you're really serious get a coach to show you how to make money easier and faster with a proven method.
If you don't have a method you need one or else you spin wheels and waste time.
Once you have an understanding of which one does this or that or don't do this or that you can make a better decision on which to use.
