- 1). Drop two small drops of dish soap into a bowl of water and mix gently. Dip the sandpaper in the water to soak it. Sand the clay bell with the sandpaper. Allow the clay to dry overnight.
- 2). Buff the clay bell with a rough cloth. Wipe off any dust residue with a soft cloth.
- 3). Brush the glaze onto the clay bell using a foam paintbrush. Apply one thin coat, then allow it to dry. Apply a second thin coat and allow it to dry. To cover the entire bell in glaze, it will take several days because you cannot glaze the bottom and top of the bell at the same time. Allow the glaze to dry overnight.
- 4). Heat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the bell on a cookie sheet and place in the oven. Heat the clay bell for about 10 minutes to set the glaze and give it a high-gloss shine. Allow the clay bell to cool before picking up or handling. If you want a less glossy finish, do not heat the clay bell in the oven.
