- 1). Shut off the circuit breaker for the swimming pool water pump at the breaker box before attempting to clean the clogged filter. Release the pressure in the system by opening the pressure relief valve and unfasten the drain plug on the filter housing.
- 2). Open the filter housing and lift the clogged filter out of the housing. Clean the clogged filter by using a high-pressure spray nozzle and a garden hose to remove the dirt and debris from the filter.
- 3). Turn on the water faucet and spray the filter with the spray nozzle from the top down at a 45-degree angle, until the filter is clean. Turn off the water faucet and place the filter back into the filter housing.
- 4). Secure the drain plug to the top of the filter housing and turn on the circuit breaker for the swimming pool pump at the breaker box with the pressure relief valve open.
- 5). Allow the air to be purged from the system and close the pressure relief valve.
