But the twenty-first century brought about the emergence of advanced software tools for structural drafting that enabled draftsmen to instantly create a 3D element (such as a beam) by just entering its dimensions. Not just that, the virtual element can even be moved, rotated and joined with other elements right on the screen, jjust as it could be in the real world. Once the complete object is built this way, the software can automatically generate a bill of materials.
